The choice based credit system (CBCS) has been adopted for both UG and PG courses since the academic session 2015-16 which provides choice for students to select from the prescribed courses (core, elective or minor or soft skill courses). The contents of various courses cover a spectrum of disciplines ranging from fundamentals of Botany, Zoology, Statistics, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics with major emphasis on various aspects of Biotechnology. The examination system involves regular internal evaluation with sufficient credit to lab sessions, seminars and aptitude for learning. |

* Eligibility: Those students who passed 10+2 school examination (Biology Group) with a minimum of 50% marks**. The candidates from outside the state of Rajasthan should possess a minimum of 60% marks to seek admission. Candidates with Agriculture / Horticulture / Biotechnology at 10+2 level will be considered, provided that they also had Chemistry as an optional subject at 10+2 level.
Fee Rs.38,500/-per annum +Local Fund Fee extra as per rules. |

A candidate should have studied any two of the following subjects for at least two years at the under graduate level: Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology. Candidates with B.Sc in Biotechnology, Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Biomedical Technology, Genetic engineering, Genetics, Agriculture, Life Sciences, Biosciences, Food Science, Food Technology, Forensic Science, B.Pharma. and other relevant subjects are also eligible for admission.
Fee 4,000/- p.a. for 8 normal seats; Rs. 27,780/- per semester +Local Fee extra as applicable for 22 SFS seats. |

Ph. D. Programme |
The department offers Ph.D. programme in various emerging and related fields of biotechnology such as applied microbiology and molecular biology.
The major thrust areas on which research is being done include following:
- Development of probiotics
- Bioprospecting for microbes of commercial importance
- Heavy metal tolerant bacteria and bioremediation
- Application of phosphate solubilization bacteria
- Production, purification and optimization of enzymes
- Calcite solubilization by bacteria
- Antimicrobial activity of plant extracts
